Buying toys or supplies for your animals can be expensive so here are 3 DIY crafts to make for your pet.

Water Bottle Chew Toy

The most simple of three crafts require two supplies. You need an empty plastic water bottle and an unwanted sock.

  • Step 1: Remove the cap and wrapper from the water bottle (make sure to remove the cap to avoid your pet from eating it)

  • Step 2: Put the empty water bottle inside the sock

  • Step 3: Tie a knot at the end of the open side of the sock

  • Step 4: Your toy is done and let your pet enjoy its new toy!

Braided Toy

The next toy will require you to get crafty and to braid! You will need multiple old shirts and a pair of scissors. (You can use one shirt for a solid colored toy but multiple shirts will make a more colorful toy)

  • Step 1: Cut your old shirts into strips

  • Step 2: Gather three strips and use and used strip to tie them together

  • Step 3: Start braiding your strips but leave about 3 inches of your strips unbraided at the end

  • Step 4: Use an unused strip to tie off the braid at the end

  • Step 5: Make sure your braid is tight and secured

  • Step 6: Your toy is complete

*There are much more complicated and sophisticated versions of this toy with tutorials available online

Dog Blanket

This final tutorial is actually for a dog blanket. You will need about a 1x1 yard of two different types of fleece. This blanket requires no sewing but you need scissors.

  • Step 1: Lay your pieces of fleece directly over each other

  • Step 2: Cut tiny strips around all edges of both pieces of fleece

  • Step 3: Tie the strips of fleece to each other to make it into one coherent blanket

  • Step 4: Make sure all the ties are neat and secure

  • Step 5: Enjoy!
